Rachel Wilson concentrates her practice in the area of state and local taxation, with an emphasis on multistate tax planning and controversy.
Her experience includes extensive multistate tax planning and controversy for multinational retailers and manufacturers prior to, during, and emerging from bankruptcy; extensive multistate tax planning and controversy for industry leaders in financial and information services; significant multistate tax planning relating to the acquisition, reorganization, and disposition of multinational pharmaceutical, retail, and manufacturing businesses; and significant multistate tax planning and controversy for major global online travel companies and trade show event planning companies. Other areas of experience include: assisting relocating companies with economic development incentives and counseling businesses on the tax consequences of synthetic leases and other leasing transactions.
Rachel also has assisted in the representation of taxpayers in Boise Cascade Company v. Director of Revenue, No. 83869 (Mo. banc Feb. 26, 2002) and its companion case of Eddie Bauer, Inc. v. Director of Revenue, No. 83870 (Mo. banc Feb. 26, 2002), where taxpayers successfully obtained refunds for income taxes paid under a Missouri statute subsequently found unconstitutional.
