Ms. Spero graduated magna cum laude from Robert Morris University in 2000 with a B.S.B.A. in Accounting. Prior to attending law school, she worked in both private and public accounting in the areas of tax preparation and auditing. She received her Juris Doctorate degree in June 2004 from Duquesne University School of Law . While attending law school, Ms. Spero interned for the Honorable Judge Joseph A. Del Sole of the Pennsylvania Superior Court and also completed a one-year internship in the Allegheny County Family Division through the Duquesne University Family Law Clinic. Ms. Spero was a member of the Duquesne Law School Tax Appellate Moot Court Team. She began her employment as a law clerk with Lisa Marie Vari & Associates, P.C. in May 2003 and accepted a position as an Associate Attorney with the office in October 2004 after passing the Pennsylvania Bar Examination. In January of 2008, Ms. Spero was promoted to the position of Senior Associate Attorney. Beginning in 2008 and continuing each year thereafter, Ms. Spero has been honored by the publication, Pennsylvania Super Lawyers, as a "Rising Star" in the family law field; an honor bestowed upon only 2.5% of all associate attorneys in Pennsylvania. She has also been honored by being invited by the Pennsylvania Bar Institute to act as a lecturer to other family law attorneys on the topic of "Tax Laws for the Family Law Practitioner".
Ms. Spero has been practicing solely family law for the past eight years. With Ms. Spero's accounting and tax background, Ms. Spero handles the majority of the firm's complex support and equitable distribution cases. Cases which are complex include those where one party is self-employed, has a partnership interest in a firm, is a shareholder in a corporation, or is a high net worth individual. Ms. Spero's complex cases have included individuals with professional degrees such as doctors, lawyers, and engineers, professional athletes, and individuals with various business interests. In the appropriate complex support or equitable distribution case, Ms. Spero solicits the assistance of business valuation experts, vocational experts, forensic accountants, actuaries, and real estate appraisers.
Jamie married William Spero in June of 2006. Mr. Spero is employed as an investment advisor. Jamie and her husband are the proud new parents of a baby boy. In her spare time, Jamie enjoys cooking, reading, and spending time with her family. In law school and for her first year in practice, Jamie was known by her maiden name, Jamie Stapinski.
