TIMOTHY J. SEGERS is a Partner in Balch & Bingham LLP's Birmingham office where he is engaged in a broad corporate and tax practice.

His corporate practice involves all areas of business practice and includes the areas of mergers and acquisitions, federal and state securities laws, business planning and structuring, corporate governance and other general corporate matters. As part of his corporate practice, he has represented clients in numerous asset and stock acquisitions, mergers, joint ventures, venture capital and private equity transactions (from both the investor and company side), securitizations and corporate borrowings. He also has extensive experience in business formations, including corporations, limited liability companies and limited partnerships. He also advises boards and management on a variety of governance and fiduciary matters, including distress situations. Clients include both domestic and international companies involved in a wide range of businesses, including manufacturing, real estate, energy, biotechnology and financial services.

His tax practice is focused primarily on the federal and state taxation of corporations, partnerships and other pass-through entities. He has advised clients on a broad range of tax matters, including tax planning of transactions, choice of entity, tax controversies, low income housing and other tax credits, and other compliance matters.

He is a member of the Birmingham Venture Club and the Birmingham Tax Club. He is a graduate of Project Corporate Leadership (Birmingham Area Chamber of Commerce, Class of 1999-2000), is an alumnus of Vistage International (2008-2011) and is included in The Best Lawyers in America in the practice area of Tax Law.
