Dale Rieger has extensive experience in counseling pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies regarding patent strategy, including issues relating to pharmaceutical life cycle management and Hatch-Waxman patent term extensions. He also advises corporate and venture investors on intellectual property due diligence associated with mergers and acquisitions, private and public financings, and initial public offerings.
Dale's legal and scientific career has emphasized pharmaceuticals, particularly working with small molecule drugs. He has represented such clients as BioMarin Pharmaceutical, Sunesis Pharmaceuticals, and Apposite Capital LLP. Before joining Jones Day, he worked at Agouron Pharmaceuticals as a senior scientist, at Gensia as a senior research scientist, and at Merck Research Laboratories as a senior research chemist.
Dale is author or coauthor of numerous articles on intellectual property issues. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the American Chemical Society, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the San Diego Intellectual Property Law Association, and the BIOCOM Intellectual Property Law Committee.
