A native Floridian with a Hispanic background, Monica Reyes graduated from Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida with a Bachelor of Science in International Business and a concentration in Biology. After completion of her undergraduate studies, Ms. Reyes attended Barry University School of Law in Orlando, Florida. During her first year of Law school, she began working for an Orlando firm, in the area of Criminal, Family, and Immigration Law. Ms. Reyes worked for the firm during all three years of Law school and was offered a position as an associate attorney when she graduated. Soon thereafter, Ms. Reyes moved to Miami to pursue a career in Entertainment Law, where she worked under George M. Tavares, Jr., a prominent entertainment attorney in South Florida, and as in-house counsel for a Hispanic television station. During her employment, the television station went bankrupt, and Ms. Reyes felt the country's financial crisis first hand. Reacting to the station's financial situation, Ms. Reyes accepted a position in a consumer Bankruptcy firm, assisting families in financial distress. Ms. Reyes helped thousands of people find peace in their lives and a fresh start financially, through the filing of Bankruptcy. During her career as a consumer Bankruptcy attorney, Ms. Reyes developed a significant appreciation for Bankruptcy, and a passion for serving her community.
Seeking to gain insight into lending institutions' practices, Ms. Reyes made the decision to work as a creditor attorney, and represented some of the country's largest financial institutions in thousands of Bankruptcy proceedings. Through this position, Ms. Reyes obtained personal insight and witnessed first-hand the parallels and distinctions between consumer and creditor bankruptcies. The knowledge gained as a creditor attorney is invaluable to Reyes & Ehrenreich as it assists her in being able to determine the best possible course of action for her clientele, as well as help her clients always be one step ahead of creditor actions.
Ms. Reyes is in good standing with the Florida Bar and is licensed to practice in all Federal Districts in the State of Florida, including the Southern, Middle, and Northern Districts of Florida. Ms. Reyes is an active member of the Bankruptcy community and remains current on the relevant Bankruptcy issues affecting this country.
