Prior to and during law school, Dan was an intern and volunteer at The White House. While serving in the Office of Appointments and Scheduling, Dan researched individuals, companies, and other events that appeared on the president's daily schedule. After two years with the Scheduling Office, Dan began working in the Office of Presidential Advance. During his time with the Advance Office, he traveled to various cities in the United States to assist with the execution of the president's schedule. In addition to President Bush's domestic stops, Dan has done international advance work for President Bush's trips to Europe and Asia.
Dan also has done volunteer advance work for Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson in China. Dan was part of Secretary Paulson's trips to Shanghai and Beijing, China in 2007 and 2008. In December 2007 and 2008, Dan traveled to Beijing to assist in the planning and execution of the U.S.-China Strategic Economic Dialogue.
