Mr. McRorie is of counsel in our corporate department focusing his practice on the energy sector. He represents oil and gas operators in lease acquisition and related exploration and production issues. For these clients, Mr. McRorie concentrates on the drafting of drilling and division order title opinions.

Mr. McRorie advises clients in several aspects of their exploration and production operations. His experience includes the review of joint operating agreements, participation agreements, oil and gas leases, title standards, statutes and case law as it relates to client interests. Recently, he represented a client in a $40 million transaction involving the acquisition of oil and gas leases. He coordinated communication between the client, an out-of-state broker and the internal legal team to complete due diligence in just three weeks in order to meet the closing date.

Mr. McRorie has advised clients on the implications of working interest partners, net revenue interest owners and royalty interest owners with respect to payment of proceeds from the production of oil and gas. He has also advised a corporate client on payment options and ramifications of lack of payment in relation to a partner who was facing a possible bankruptcy. His experience has included work on fee, Bureau of Land Management and Bureau of Indian Affairs lands.

Prior to joining Lathrop & Gage, he was a consultant for a large independent oil company doing title landman work.
