Lori Vanderlaan is a partner with the firm and handles cases for the firm’s clients through-out the State of Illinois. Lori's practice concentrates in employment discrimination, civil rights, complex tort litigation, commercial law, professional malpractice, privacy law, dram shop and insurance coverage litigation. Lori has tried cases involving a variety of matters including multi-party tort litigation, employment discrimination, personal injury, defamation and commercial transactions. She successfully tried to verdict the first internet defamation case in the State of Illinois. In addition, Lori handles appellate work at both the State and Federal level, serves as coverage counsel for some of the firm’s clients, and also provides consulting and training services in the employment law field for some of the firm’s clients.
Lori is admitted to practice in the State of Illinois, the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, the United States District Court for the various Federal Districts of Illinois as well as the Northern District of Indiana. She is also a member of the United States District Court Trial Bar, Illinois State Bar Association, DuPage County Bar Association and the DRI Diversity Committee. Lori obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Illinois and her law degree from the John Marshall Law School where she graduated magna cum laude. While in law school she was a member and staff editor for the John Marshall Law Review and was a member of the Labor Law Moot Court team.
