Melvin Kraus received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Washington University in 1962 and an LL.B. at The George Washington University in 1966.
Specializing in intellectual property law involving patent prosecution and litigation in the electrical field, he became a patent examiner in 1962 and thereafter worked as a patent advisor for both the Department of the Navy, and the Department of the Army, while also being associated with Spencer & Kaye.
From 1967 until 1971, he served in the U.S. Army in the Judge Advocate General Corps, assisting the Department of Justice in patent litigation. He joined the firm in 1971, where he has continued to concentrate in patent prosecution and litigation.
His professional memberships include the American Bar Association, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, and the Bar Association of the District of Columbia.
He is admitted to the bar in Virginia and the District of Columbia and is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
