Joseph, John J.

During more than 31 years as a trial lawyer, including his service as First Assistant District Attorney in Westmoreland County, Bob Johnston has tried hundreds of criminal and civil cases of nearly every description. He continues to represent people and businesses in civil lawsuits, and people charged with crimes. He also represents other lawyers in professional liability matters, serves as Hotline Counsel advising lawyers across Pennsylvania concerning malpractice issues, is a former Chair of the Pennsylvania Bar Association Professional Liability Committee, and is trained in Mediation.

Bob has been very active professionally, serving as President of the Westmoreland Bar Association in 2004-2005, and has served as Chair of the Criminal Law, Civil Litigation, Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers, Planning, and Bench-Bar Committees, and currently chairs the Alternative Dispute Resolution and Public Relations Committees. He is a member of the Board of Governors of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, serves as Board liaison to the Professional Liability and Alternative Dispute Resolution Committees,and has served as a delegate to the PBA House of Delegates since 1997. Bob is also a Founder and first President of the Ned J. Nakles American Inn of Court and served for many years on the Board of the Westmoreland Academy of Civil Trial Lawyers.

Known for his diverse experience and expertise in the areas of legal malpractice, civil, and criminal litigation, Bob is a frequent Continuing Education lecturer and has served as an author, producer and panelist in connection with the Pennsylvania Bar Association state-wide annual malpractice avoidance programs for many years, and Pennsylvania Bar Institute and Conference of Count Bar Leaders Programs. Bob has also served as a member of the Board of Clelian Heights School for Exceptional Children and as solicitor and a Member of the Board of the Westmoreland County Association for Retarded Citizens.

Bob is a graduate of Allegheny College and Duquesne University School of Law.
