Dr. Ognian Shentov is a patent litigator who focuses on patent, trade secret, and related high-technology matters in the electronics, telecommunications, software, and computer industries. He has represented many large and sophisticated companies in these industries, and he also advises clients on critical high-technology and complex prosecution matters.
Oggie's recent representations include defending Lenovo in a patent infringement case concerning video compression standards; appearing on behalf of the defendants in a large multidefendant patent infringement case concerning web services; representing the plaintiff in several multidefendant, e-commerce technology cases; defending Chevron in a trade secret misappropriation matter; and directing the defense of a group of Taiwanese companies in a semiconductor manufacturing patent case. His litigation practice covers the Eastern District of Texas, the Southern and Central Districts of California, the Eastern District of Virginia, the District of New Hampshire, and the Southern District of New York. Prior to joining Jones Day, Oggie was a partner at the Pennie & Edmonds intellectual property law firm.
Oggie is a member of the New York Intellectual Property Law Association, the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, and the American Bar Association. He has written several journal articles and more than 15 other publications, and he also has contributed to a book on digital signal processing. Oggie is a frequent participant in panel discussions on domestic and international intellectual property issues.
