Jerry Anders is a partner in the Litigation Department. As Co-Chair of the Construction Practices Group, he focuses on construction claims and construction defects cases. He also devotes time to personal injury construction accidents, product liability, negligence, toxic torts and premises liability. Anders has handled and tried cases involving building products, soil engineering, stucco and water intrusion. He has tried product liability cases and handled construction claims involving manufacturers and operators of cranes, bulldozers, loaders, trucks, conveyors, hoists, pumps and lifts.
Recent cases include a multimillion dollar trial involving a prominent window manufacturer and construction defects in over 200 hotels throughout the country. In addition, he has successfully handled construction and contract cases involving steel tubing used in gas wells, pipe manufacturers, construction equipment manufacturers, sprinkler and fire suppression equipment, adhesives and disputes involving purchase orders and steel fabrication. Anders represents architects, engineers, developers, contractors and construction managers. He also represents an internationally known truck manufacturer.
Jerry Anders has published materials on numerous subjects including spoliation of evidence, product defects and consumer conduct, causation in product liability cases, and a component manufacturer's duty to warn. He has also lectured on handling a construction defect case, evidence and trucking claims. His speaking engagements have included presentations at the request of The Defense Research Institute, Pennsylvania Defense Institute, National Business Institute, Pennsylvania Bar Institute and the Philadelphia Association of Defense Counsel. Anders is a sustaining member of the Product Liability Advisory Council. By Order of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, he currently serves on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court Civil Procedural Rules Committee. Jerry Anders has argued cases before the Pennsylvania Superior Court and the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. He is the former Chairman of the Pennsylvania Defense Institute Product Liability Committee, has participated in pro bono activities with the Support Center for Child Advocates and has been specially recognized for his work with the Homeless Advocacy Project. He is a private pilot.
Jerry Anders was selected in a survey of his peers as a Pennsylvania "Super Lawyer" by Law & Politics magazine in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008. He is AV rated by the Martindale-Hubbell peer review rating system. He received his A.B., magna cum laude, from Franklin and Marshall College where he was also elected Phi Beta Kappa. He earned his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and was awarded membership in the Order of the Coif, a National Honor Society, whose membership is limited to the top ten percent of the graduating class. He completed a term as a Law Clerk to the President Judge on the Lehigh Court of Common Pleas before starting his career at White and Williams. Jerry Anders is licensed to practice in Pennsylvania and is admitted to the bars of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, United States Third Circuit Court of Appeals, United States Supreme Court and has been admitted pro hac vice in other jurisdictions.
