Colasurd, Michael D.

Mr. Cohen has been with the firm for over 22 years. Immediately after graduating from law school he served in the United States Navy in the Judge Advocate Generals Corps. He was an active duty Lieutenant trying cases in military courts in Florida for three years. He was also a Special Assistant United States Attorney. He currently manages our Dutchess County Office and tries cases throughout New York State. He has attained numerous million dollar settlements and verdicts for his clients. Mr. Cohen has one of the largest verdicts in the area for a person injured in a car crash; almost 9 million dollars. Most recently he achieved a large confidential settlement for a quadriplegic in Dutchess County which allowed her, among other things, to buy a handicapped accessible van and renovate her home to make it more livable. He recently settled a case during trial for almost 3 million dollars, for a truck driver who was injured at a gasoline distribution facility and can no longer work. In 2011 he settled a case for 1.5 million dollars for an Ulster County woman who underwent surgery for neck injuries suffered in a car accident

Mr. Cohen is a frequent guest on Hudson Valley Talk Radio WGHQ 920 AM, WBNR 1260 AM and WLNA 1420 in conjunction with the series "Family Safety and the Law". Topics include the dangers of texting and driving, workers compensation and social security disability benefits, and holiday safety. He lectures at various Continuing Legal Education forums and mentors younger lawyers.
