Mark Albert, a partner in the firm's Business and Emerging Companies practices, has been a transactional attorney for more than 17 years with a focus on mergers and acquisitions, venture capital financings, and initial public offerings. He has helped clients successfully complete more than 100 acquisition/sale transactions ranging in size from over $1 million to over $1 billion. Typical transactions have included public/private mergers, public/private acquisitions, private/private mergers, and asset acquisitions, with an emphasis on the sale of venture-backed companies and acquisitions/sales by private equity investors. He has represented more than 100 emerging growth companies, assisting them in raising in excess of $1 billion in capital and $1 billion in public debt. He has also helped a number of those companies successfully complete initial public offerings. Areas of particular experience include: Internet, software, entertainment, semiconductors, hardware and energy. Mark has substantial experience in representing university spin-outs. He is currently an active participant in the V-Lab at the University of California, Berkeley, which aids the commercialization of the school's research, and frequently speaks on the commercialization of university-sponsored technology. He also regularly counsels clients on general corporate and securities issues, business strategies, fundraising and team building.
