Michael Mays was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1950. A few years later, his family moved to Fairfax, Virginia where he resided until June 2007. In June 2007 Michael moved to Fauquier County, Virginia. Michael grew up and attended public school in Fairfax County, Virginia. He attended college at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia where he graduated with honors in 1972. He attended law school at the T.C. Williams School of Law of the University of Richmond in Richmond, Virginia where he graduated in the top one third of his class in 1975.
From July 1, 1975 to June 30, 1976 Michael served as law clerk to the judges of the Fairfax County Circuit Court. From 1976, he has been engaged in the private practice of law. In June 2007 Michael moved his law practice to Warrenton, Virginia. He now accepts cases in Fauquier County, Prince William County, Culpeper County, Rappahannock County, and Warren County,Virginia. Michael is a member of the Virginia State Bar, D.C. Bar, and the Fauquier County Bar Association. He has served on the Professionalism Committee as a Mentor for new attorneys and as a member of the Lawyer Referral Committee and the Law Library Committee of the Fairfax Bar Association. Michael was a volunteer at the Fairfax City Museum from 1993-1997. Michael is a member of Citizens for Fauquier County a non-profit organization whose mission is preserving the open space, natural and historical resources of Fauquier County. Michael's interests include tennis, music, science and history.
