Rebecca Matthews is Counsel in both the Corporate Practice and Health Care Departments in the firm's New Haven office. Rebecca routinely represents business entities in the areas of capital formation, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic alliances, technology tranfers and corporate governance. Rebecca's experience includes significant work on business transactions for health care providers, including provider joint ventures; mergers and affiliations of hospitals, health systems and other providers; provider and physician practice acquisitions; and corporate reorganizations. Her health care regulatory experience includes certificate of need matters at the Connecticut Office of Health Care Access, licensure matters at the Connecticut Department of Public Health, HIPAA, fraud and abuse, and other medicare compliance matters. Rebecca also counsels biotechnology companies in connection with licensing arrangements, R&D agreements, strategic alliances and similar matters.
Prior to Wiggin and Dana, Rebecca was in-house counsel at a large integrated health care delivery system where she was responsible for legal aspects of all hospital functions coordinated at the system level.
Rebecca graduated from The George Washington University with a B.A., summa cum laude, and received her J.D. from Boston College Law School, magna cum laude. She is admitted to practice in Connecticut and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
