Hon. Andrew T. Mason was elected to the Maine House of Representatives for District 60 serving Topsham in November 2012. He is serving as a member of the 126th Legislature and is assigned to the Joint Standing Committee on Labor, Commerce, Research and Economic Development. Mr. Mason was elected to the Topsham Board of Selectmen in November 2010 and served until January 2013.
Mr. Mason joined Reben, Benjamin & March in August 2007. He specializes in workers’ compensation, Social Security Disability, personal injury, employment discrimination, and short and long term disability insurance denials. Mr. Mason travels throughout the state representing clients in all corners of Maine.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Mason served as the Kennebec County Superior Court law clerk. Mr. Mason received his JD magna cum laude from Vermont Law School in 2006, where he was also a member of the Vermont Law Review. During the summer of 2005, Mr. Mason served as a law clerk on the United States Senate Judiciary Committee for the ranking Democrat, Senator Patrick Leahy. During law school Mr. Mason also clerked for the Honorable Jerome J. Niedermeier, Magistrate Judge for the United States District Court, Burlington, Vermont.
Prior to law school, Mr. Mason spent 10 years working as a Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist teaching independent travel skills to blind and visually impaired children and adults. From 2000-2003, Mr. Mason volunteered as a guardian ad litem and was responsible for investigating claims of abuse or neglect involving children, as well as monitoring families and their compliance with any court-ordered treatment plan.
Mr. Mason is admitted to the bar in the State of Maine and the United States District Court for the District of Maine.
He lives in Topsham with his wife, Michelle, and his daughter.
