Worthen, James C.

Robert Marshall is an associate in our Real Estate Department and the leader of our Leasing and Construction Groups.  Mr. Marshall represents public and private companies, not-for-profit entities and individuals as tenants, landlords, owners, contractors, architects, brokers, purchasers and sellers in the acquisition, disposition, construction, development and leasing of commercial, residential and mixed-use properties.

Mr. Marshall concentrates his practice in the area of commercial office, retail, restaurant, nightclub and bar leasing and construction, as well as shopping center, mixed-use property, retail property, hotel, office building, residential tower, sports complex and entertainment facility construction and development representing nationally known owners, tenants and contractors throughout the country.  Clients regularly rely on his extensive legal and practical business experience to evaluate the complicated issues related to leasing transactions and construction projects, craft workable solutions, consummate such transactions and projects and advise on ongoing management, construction and development issues. 

Prior to joining our firm, Mr. Marshall was associated with a large Wall Street law firm, where he represented clients in a broad range of real estate matters.  He also served in the United States Army Combat Infantry and Military Police, where he was stationed abroad in Central America and Europe.

Mr. Marshall received his J.D. from the Boston University School of Law, and he received his B.S., summa cum laude, and his M.A. from St. John's University. 

Mr. Marshall is a former Congressional Intern to the Honorable Susan Molinari, 13th Congressional District of the State of New York and a former Judicial Intern to the Honorable Charles A. Kuffner, Jr., Supreme Court of the State of New York.  

Mr. Marshall has served on the Committee on Military Affairs and Justice of the New York City Bar Association and is a member of the Real Property Law Section of the New York State Bar Association.  He is also a licensed and active real estate broker in the State of New York.

Recent Representative Matters:

-Representation of the owner of a New York City mixed-use building in connection with its leasing program, including a lease of 120,000 square feet to a university, a lease of 40,000 square feet to a national retailer, and a lease of 18,000 square feet to a high-end fitness club.

-Representation of a renown financial institution in connection with the lease for its New York City headquarters in a midtown luxury office tower.

-Representation of a national retailer in connection with its leasing program, including a lease of 34,000 square feet in Chicago, a lease of 33,000 square feet in Philadelphia, a lease of 30,000 square feet in Baltimore, and a lease of 20,000 square feet in New York City.

-Representation of the owner of a downtown Chicago hotel in connection with its interior demolition and renovation of 300 guest rooms.

-Representation of the owner of a downtown Boston office building in connection with its leasing program, including a lease to a prominent financial institution for its New England headquarters and a lease of 60,000 square feet to a national law firm.

-Representation of a celebrated chef (and his partners) in connection with the lease for his debut restaurant in Las Vegas.

-Representation of the owner of shopping malls, retail properties, office towers, hotels and mixed-use buildings in connection with its leasing program and construction projects nationwide, including leases to retail stores, financial institutions, restaurants, nightclubs, bars and coffeehouses in New York City, Miami, Chicago and Detroit, and pre-construction, general contractor, construction management, conceptual design services, architectural services, engineering services and consulting services agreements for related projects.
