Joe Witalec's practice focuses primarily on the representation of debtors, creditors, and other parties of interest in corporate restructurings, chapter 11 cases, distressed sales, commercial litigation, and other insolvency-related matters.
Joe has been actively involved in the Firm's representation of debtors, creditors, and other parties in several significant business restructurings, including the chapter 11 cases of National Century Financial Enterprises, Inc.; Laidlaw Inc.; Imperial Home Decor Group, Inc.; Loewen Group International, Inc.; The Clothestime, Inc.; Montgomery Ward Holding Corp.; and The Elder-Beerman Stores Corp.
Joe also has represented purchasers of substantial assets from bankruptcy estates, including sales in the chapter 11 cases of Mosler Inc.; NRG Energy, Inc.; Tru-Circle Aerospace Corporation; and Georgetown Steel Company, LLC. In addition, he has counseled creditors in both in- and out-of-court restructuring matters, including clients Federated Department Stores, Inc.; The Dayton Power and Light Company; and Global Access Limited.
Joe is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, the Ohio State Bar Association, and the Columbus Bar Association. He is admitted to practice in the Southern District of Ohio.
