Mr. Lumer has devoted his legal career to fighting for the rights of the victims of police and governmental misconduct. Mr. Lumer graduated in 1995 from Brooklyn Law School, where he was a Richardson Scholar, a recipient of the Edward Sparer Public Interest Fellowship, and an editor of the Brooklyn Law Review. Mr. Lumer has written on criminal procedure law and the historical relationship between race and the death penalty in New York. He began his career as a criminal defense and civil rights attorney, representing people who had been assaulted, falsely arrested, wrongly prosecuted, or otherwise mistreated by members of law enforcement. Although Mr. Lumer has also represented businesses and corporations in criminal and commercial litigation, he has maintained a particular focus on protecting individual rights and civil liberties. Mr. Lumer joined Reibman & Weiner in 2006, where he specializes in representing individuals who have been falsely arrested or have been the victims of police brutality. Mr. Lumer predominantly practices in Federal Court. Through his extensive experience, hard work and commitment, Mr. Lumer has consistently achieved outstanding results for his clients.
