Tania Alavi graduated from the University of Florida in 1987 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice. She earned her law degree from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in 1991. Ms. Alavi is admitted to practice in both state and federal courts in Florida as well as the District of Columbia.
Her areas of practice include Criminal Defense, Federal Criminal Defense and Family Law. The nature of Ms. Alavi's criminal cases range from misdemeanors, including Driving Under the Influence (DUI), to all types of felonies, including Death Penalty cases. She has been a guest speaker for the Florida Public Defender Association on criminal issues and a guest speaker in the area of DUI legal education. In addition, Ms Alavi has been a Certified Family Law Mediator by the Florida Supreme Court since 2010 and an adjunct faculty of the University of Florida College of Law since 2007.
Currently, Ms. Alavi serves on the Board of Directors for the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, serves on the Board of Directors for the University of Florida Performing Arts Center and serves on the Leading Edge Committee for the Cade Museum For Invention and Innovation.
