Dennis Weitzel joined Morgan & Morgan in 2010 after 29 years of trial practice in the courts in Texas, Arkansas, California and throughout the Southeast. He primarily tries toxic tort, product liability and personal injury cases.
Since graduating from the University of Texas School of Law in 1981, Mr. Weitzel has tried to verdict, as lead attorney, over 75 cases involving product liability, wrongful death and jobsite accidents. He is board-certified both in Personal Injury Trial Law and Civil Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. In 1998, Mr. Weitzel was elected a Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and in 1999 was elected to the prestigious American Board of Trial Advocates. In 2005, Mr. Weitzel was named a Super Lawyer in the area of plaintiff's product liability litigation by Texas Monthly magazine.
Mr. Weitzel is admitted to practice in all the Courts of the State of Texas and has been admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit. He is licensed to practice in the United States District Courts for the Northern, Southern, Eastern and Western Districts of Texas and has tried cases to verdict in Federal Courts in Fort Worth, Dallas, Sherman, Marshall, Austin and San Antonio, Texas. He has also tried cases to verdict in San Francisco, California and Oakland, California. Mr. Weitzel has been listed in several Who's Who publications in the field of law, has received the highest AV rating for competency and ethics by the legal directory Martindale-Hubbell and is a frequent speaker on trial issues including causes of action, insurance and trial tactics.
Prior to joining Morgan & Morgan, Mr. Weitzel was on the management committee of a national law firm trying Asbestos and Product Liability cases. For 18 years prior to joining that firm, Mr. Weitzel was a partner and managing partner of his own firm involved in representing individuals and families in cases involving workplace injuries, toxic torts, medical malpractice and wrongful death. He has represented members of organized labor involving claims of asbestos related diseases, pharmaceutical injuries and general personal injuries arising in Kentucky, Indiana, Georgia, Florida, Ohio, Mississippi, Louisiana, Oklahoma, California and Texas.
Mr. Weitzel is a past Director of the Texas Trial Lawyer's Association and a past member of the executive board of the Dallas Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates. He and his wife, Lori, have been married for 27 years and have 5 children.
