Born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, Mr. Lohman graduated from Trinity High School in 1987, earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Kentucky in 1991, and received his juris doctor degree from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 1994. Mr Lohman was licensed to practice law in Kentucky in 1994 and was admitted to practice in the UNited States District Court, Western District of Kentucky in 1996.
Mr. Lohman belongs to a number of notable professional associations, including the American Justice Association, the Kentucky Justice Association, the Southern Trial Lawyers Association (he has served on the Board of Governors since 2000), the Louisville Bar Association, and the Kentucky Bar Association. Mr. Lohman is also a member of the Million Dollar Advocate's Forum which is limited to attorneys who have won million dollar verdicts or settlements.
Very active in his community, Mr. Lohman served on the University of Kentucky Board of Trustees from 1989 to 1991. Mr. Lohman served on the Board of Directors of the Exploited Children's Help Organization in Louisville from 1996 to 2005 and was also chairman of the Board from 2002 to 2005. From 2005 to 2010 he served on the Community Coordinated Child Care Board of Directors. He is also a member of the Second Presbyterian Church where he serves as an Elder.
