Weir, Catherine C.

Diane C. Weil is a member of the Panel of Trustees for chapter 7 and chapter 11 bankruptcy cases for the Central District of California. She has also represented trustees in chapter 7 and in chapter 11 cases over a period of many years. She has extensive experience in virtually all aspects of bankruptcy and insolvency-related matters, including representation of debtors, secured and unsecured creditors and creditors’ committees in large Chapter 11 cases, including issues related to acquisitions by third parties, plan negotiation and litigation, and entertainment issues including licensing and executory contracts. Ms Weil has represented secured creditors in a variety of chapter 11 cases, including real estate, operating cases and landlords in chapter 11 and chapter 7 cases of various sizes involving both single and multiple locations. She has represented debtors and debtors-in-possession and creditors in chapter 11 cases, and in chapter 7 cases, and debtors and creditors in out of court workouts. She has experience in real estate matters, and in bankruptcy litigation relating to cash collateral, assumption and rejection of leases and executory contracts, relief from the automatic stay and confirmation of plans. She has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in trustee avoiding power actions, discharge and non-dischargeability actions.

Among other cases, Ms. Weil represented the Chapter 11 debtor in In re Chip Shot, Inc., bondholders in In re Komag, Incorporated and has worked on various aspects of many other cases, including Barry’s Jewelers, NextWave Personal Communications, Sourcecom and Visicom.
