Watson, Violetta Guberman

Nathan Lewis practices intellectual property law and concentrates his practice on patent prosecution, particularly in the chemical area. Nathan has written and prosecuted patent applications in each of the four major fields: chemical, electrical, mechanical, and computer software. Specific subject matter areas that he has experience in include rubber chemistry, plastics, nanotechnology, telecommunications, e-commerce, wireless technology, hearing aid devices, industrial seals, keyboards, LCDs, computer software, medical devices, and dental devices. He also has provided opinions on patentability and infringement, mainly in the chemical areas.

Nathan has worked on the reexamination of multiple Internet/software patents that were concurrently being litigated. In addition, he has patent litigation experience, having participated with research and other assistance in the discovery phase of several actions.

Nathan also advises on corporate IP matters related to mergers and acquisitions, including performing due diligence, drafting technology transaction documents, and intellectual property licenses.

In law school, Nathan graduated with honors and received the BNA award for excellence in intellectual property. He also authored an article titled "Improving the Patent System for the 21st Century: Optimizing the Requirements to be a Member of the Patent Bar," 8 Comp. Law & Tech. Rev. 3 (2004).
