2. Smyth County, Virginia: an elderly farmer had his hand severely damaged from the rupture of a hydraulic hose on a brand new farm mower. The product liability lawsuit against the manufacturer of the mower resulted in a jury verdict of 1.75 million dollars.

5. Toledo Ohio: a young 16 year old intoxicated teenager riding in a car with other intoxicated youths was struck and killed by a highway construction truck that failed to yield the right of way at 4 am. Result: the case settled for an amount in excess of one million dollars after 4 days of trial.
6. Houston, Texas: a young girl was born brain damaged due to the medical negligence of doctors and hospital personnel at one of the largest hospitals in Houston, Texas. The case settled pretrial for a multi-million dollar amount.
7. Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania: a young five year old boy with sleep apnea died within 24 hours of undergoing outpatient tonsillectomy surgery because of a failure to keep him in the hospital and monitor the effects of narcotics administered to him.
