Upon graduation from law school in 1985, Mr. Vanek became a staff attorney with an employee benefits consulting firm. Some of his duties included: drafting, amending and terminating qualified plans; IRS and DOL plan audits; analyzing the impact of new legislation; and advising clients on the tax consequences of qualified plans on the employer and plan participants. Prior to joining Laner, Muchin, Dombrow, Becker, Levin and Tominberg, Ltd., Mr. Vanek was associated with a business law firm where he continued to specialize in employee benefits. He joined the predecessor to Laner, Muchin, Dombrow, Becker, Levin and Tominberg, Ltd. in 1989. He has authored articles on employee benefit issues and has lectured before professional groups. He is the co-author of the Illinois Continuing Legal Education Supplement on Employee Benefits and Collective Bargaining. Mr. Vanek also sits as Fund counsel to several multi-employer health, pension and training funds. Mr. Vanek also serves on the Attorneys Committee for the International Foundation of Employee Benefits.
