·        Developers and owners of large shopping malls and major office buildings

·        Banks in the acquisition, leasing, development and sale of offices and operations centers in the southeast and southwest U.S.

·        Utility companies in the acquisition of sites for rights-of-way, hydroelectric reservoirs, generating plants, transmission towers, substation sites and offices

·        Landlords and tenants in connection with the negotiation of commercial leases

His work on the above matters includes issues relating to financing, zoning, land use controls, street and subdivision regulations, environmental matters, restrictive covenants, owner and commercial associations, title reviews, utilities, regulatory concerns, purchase and sale agreements, construction and architect's contracts, building and other permitting matters, NPDES storm water permits, bonding, surveys, flood insurance regulations, annexation issues, common area maintenance, and other construction, development and leasing issues.

Prior to joining Balch & Bingham LLP, Mr. Lanier served as Clerk to the Honorable James H. Hancock, United States District Judge, Northern District of Alabama.
