Mr. Vance is licensed to practice law in both Texas and Louisiana, beginning his legal career in Louisiana and later moving to Texas. He maintains an active license in both states and is able to evaluate and litigate claims arising in either Texas or Louisiana. This dual licensing allows him to assist Brown Sims in its goal of providing its clients with region-wide service across the Gulf Coast.
He has over ten years of litigation experience focusing primarily on defending insurance companies and their insureds against first party and third party claims for personal injury, wrongful death, and property damage. He has defended his clients against claims arising out of automobile and trucking accidents, premises liability, products liability, non-medical professional negligence, insurance coverage disputes, bad faith litigation, and construction and contracts litigation. In addition to his litigation practice, Mr. Vance is often called upon to assist in investigation and evaluation of damage claims and coverage issues prior to litigation to assist his clients in avoiding legal proceedings.
Mr. Vance received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management from Northeast Louisiana University in 1989 and a Juris Doctor in 1997 from Louisiana State University's Paul M. Hebert Law Center. He is admitted to practice in all Texas and Louisiana State Courts, as well as the United States District Courts for the Southern District of Texas and the Eastern and Western Districts of Louisiana.
