Mr. Tunis is a graduate of the University of Scranton and a 1999 cum laude graduate of Widener University School of Law, Harrisburg Campus. While at Widener, Mr. Tunis was named a Widener Scholar and served as a member of the School's Law Review. After graduation, Mr. Tunis served as a law clerk to United States District Court Judge William J. Nealon, Middle District of Pennsylvania, from 1999-2001. Since that time, Mr. Tunis has been engaged in private civil practice representing a broad range of clients, in both state and federal courts, in complex commercial litigation matters, as well as civil rights actions, shareholder and partnership disputes, antitrust actions, ERISA matters, will contests, labor and employment cases, education matters, election challenges and other related issues.
Mr. Tunis currently serves as the Solicitor for the Tunkhannock Area School District and, in that capacity, handles a variety of issues, including expulsion hearings, personnel actions, grievance arbitrations, and other collective bargaining mattters. Mr. Tunis also acted as lead counsel and chief negotiator for the most recent collective bargaining agreement between the school district and the teachers' union.
In two recent years, Mr. Tunis has been selected by his peers as a Pennsylvania Rising Star in Philadelphia Magazine, an honor extended to only 2.5% of Pennsylvania attorneys under the age of 40.
