Marisa Baker Trofimov is a graduate of Yale University and Seton Hall University School of Law, Prior to joining the Law Offices of William P. Deni, Sr. as "Of Counsel", Ms. Trofimov was formerly associated with the law firms Copeland, Shimalla, Wechsler & Lepp and Pellettier, Rabstein & Altman. She has substantial experience handling domestic violence trials, abuse and neglect matters, civil unions, custody and parenting time disputes, palimony cases, and divorce cases, including those of high net worth individuals. Although Ms. Trofimov has trial experience, she is also experienced at resolving matrimonial disputes through mediation, rather than proceeding to trial, which can be cost prohibitive for some clients. She has appeared in Hunterdon, Somerset, Mercer, Warren, Morris, Middlesex, Burlington, Union and Essex County Courts. She is also a former Professor of Family Law at Raritan Valley Community College.
Ms. Trofimov is also experienced at handling estate probate matters.
Prior to entering private practice, Ms. Trofimov was a Law Clerk for the Honorable Heidi Wills Currier, J.S.C., Middlesex County. Prior to attending law school, she served on the legislative staff for Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) handling Health Care, Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security and Women's Issues and was previously a legislative intern for Senator John Kerry (D-MA). She was also paralegal for Sidley, Austin, Brown & Wood in the corporate law department (Pooled Investment Entities) of their New York office prior to attending law school.
Ms. Trofimov is the Hunterdon County Representative to the Young Lawyer's Division of the New Jersey State Bar Association. She is also actively involved in the State Bar Association through the Women In the Profession Section (WHIPS), the Solo and Small Firm Section, and the Family Law Section. Additionally, Ms. Trofimov is an active member of the Hunterdon County Bar Associations and the Somerset County Bar Associations.
