Jeffrey Kessler is an associate in the Regulatory and Government Affairs Department, and a member of the International Trade, Investment and Market Access Practice Group. He joined the firm in 2011.
Practice
Mr. Kessler practices World Trade Organization (WTO) law, domestic trade remedy law, and import/export law, with an emphasis on China-related issues. He has recently advised corporations and industry associations on foreign governments' compliance with WTO rulings, and litigated at the US International Trade Commission and the US Department of Commerce. In the area of import/export law, Mr. Kessler advises corporations on their compliance obligations under US economic sanctions, military and dual-use technology export controls, and customs regulations.
On a pro bono basis, Mr. Kessler recently worked with the Asian Law Caucus to develop a pamphlet on the Iran Sanctions for public distribution.
Past Experience
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Kessler interned at the Office of the US Trade Representative, where he worked on several active WTO cases involving China, and at the US Department of the Treasury, where he worked on CFIUS and other investment security issues.
During law school, Mr. Kessler served as president of the China Law & Policy Association, and also as a research assistant to Professor A.M. Polinsky.
