BACKGROUND
James was born in Columbia, South Carolina on November 2, 1962. He graduated from Clemson University (B.S., 1986) and the University of South Carolina Law School (J.D., 1989) where he was a Legislative Council Member and a member of Phi Alpha Delta. He was admitted to the South Carolina Bar in 1989 and United States District Court, District of South Carolina in 1990. He is a member of the Charleston County, South Carolina and American Bar Associations, the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys Association, and the Defense Research Institute. His areas of practice include toxic torts, product liability, construction litigation, medical malpractice, and general negligence. James lives in Mount Pleasant with his two children.
PRIMARY PRACTICE AREA - TOXIC TORTS
Mr. Kennedy has been significantly involved in toxic tort law, particularly in asbestos litigation, for the past 17 years. He has been involved in asbestos litigation in South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Florida, Tennessee, Texas, Pennsylvania, and other states. Mr. Kennedy has also handled silica litigation for numerous clients, and he also practices in the area of medical malpractice and has defended both doctors and hospitals.
In addition to trial experience, Mr. Kennedy has participated in numerous court-ordered settlement conferences and mediations. He is also active within his community and is currently serving on the Advisory Board of the First National Bank of South Carolina.
