John is Of Counsel to the firm of Briggs and Morgan, Professional Association and is based in our St. Paul office. He is a member of the Business Litigation Section and practices principally in the areas of:
John has represented a number of health care systems in the Midwest in regard to mergers, acquisitions, and the sale/purchase of hospitals and nursing homes.
Prior to entering private practice, John served as a judge advocate with the U.S. Marine Corps and as a Minnesota deputy attorney general. He is admitted to practice in Minnesota and Wisconsin, as well as in Minnesota federal courts, the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals, U.S. Supreme Court, U.S. Tax Court and the Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces.
John is a member of the Ramsey County, Minnesota State, and Wisconsin State Bar associations. He is a former board chair of the Minnesota division of the American Cancer Society and is formerly a board member of the Biomedical Ethics Committee of the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis. He also served as a member of the Ethics Committee of Children's Hospitals and Clinics.
Born in St. Paul, Minnesota, John received his B.A. from the University of St. Thomas and his law degree from the University of Minnesota Law School. He joined Briggs in 1972.
