Walt Jones is an Associate in the firm's Atlanta office and a member of the firm's Creditors Rights and Bankruptcy practice group as well as the firm's Litigation practice group. Walt's practice focuses on the representation of financial institutions and other creditors in bankruptcy cases (all chapters), adversary proceedings, and varying types of litigation arising in both state and federal courts. Walt is experienced in all facets of creditor representation and routinely represents creditors with respect to non-judicial foreclosures and confirmation proceedings, receiverships, DIP financing, cash collateral negotiations, fraudulent conveyance and preference litigation, bankruptcy appellate proceedings, loan work-outs, adequate assurance payments, executory contracts, real property disputes, and collection matters. In addition to the financial institution and creditor representation mentioned above, Walt also has a strong background in the representation of whole-bank purchasers from the FDIC (including in the areas of post-purchase asset management, interpretation and application of FDIC Purchase and Assumption Agreements and Loss Share Agreements, corporate governance of the whole-bank purchaser, policy and procedure development, and state and federal banking regulation). Walt also represents contractors and subcontractors in the perfection and enforcement of materialman and mechanic liens as well as in claims against public and private payment bonds.
