Walter Stasiuk, of counsel, has comprehensive experience rendering tax, business and transactional planning services to public and large closely held businesses, private equity and real estate promoters, wealthy U.S. and foreign individuals, and tax exempt charities. He also has extensive expertise handling a varied array of federal and state tax controversies as well as preparing Wills and Trusts and planning for U.S. estate and gift taxes. In addition, he regularly advises clients on a wide range of tax and non-tax business and investment matters.
Mr. Stasiuk's tax planning and transactional experience includes: the formation, acquisition, and reorganization of C and S corporations, partnerships and LLCs; real estate syndications and tax free 1031 exchanges; venture capital financings; public and private equity and debt placements; and not-for-profit organizations. His planning background also extends to U.S. taxation of international transactions, including U.S. ownership of foreign businesses, foreign owned U.S. businesses and foreign ownership of U.S. real estate.
Before joining Wachtel, Masyr & Missry, LLP, Mr. Stasiuk spent 14 years and was a partner of Kostelanetz & Ritholz until the firm dissolved in 1994. Aside from overseeing the firm's tax planning and transactional work, he was extensively involved in a wide range of federal, state and local civil tax and penalty controversies, including all phases of administrative and judicial deficiency and refund proceedings.
