Benjamin A. Stark is an associate in the Trial Practice Group of Barrett & Farahany, LLP. Benjamin fights to protect employees’ rights in matters such as discrimination, harassment, retaliation and overtime pay.

Prior to joining Barrett & Farahany, Benjamin worked five and a half years for the U.S. Department of Labor, Office of the Solicitor (SOL). Benjamin was initially hired for DOL as part of SOL’s Honors Program. He was the first attorney in that program to work in a regional office (Atlanta). In addition to protecting employee rights in matters such as discrimination and overtime pay, Benjamin enforced workplace safety laws such as the Occupational Safety and Health Act and employee benefit protections such as Title I of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act. While employed by DOL, Benjamin drafted policy memos used by the entire agency, negotiated nationwide settlements with major corporations and won every matter that he took to trial.

Benjamin earned his J.D. in 2006 from Duke University School of Law, where he graduated magna cum laude in the top 15% of his class. While studying at Duke, Benjamin was an editor on the Journal of Law and Contemporary Problems, and was a member of Phi Delta Phi, a legal ethics fraternity. Just before graduation, Benjamin's classmates awarded him the Justin Miller Award for Integrity. Prior to law school, Benjamin graduated from Vanderbilt University summa cum laude with a B.A. in Political Science. At Vanderbilt, Benjamin was an occasional columnist for the student newspaper, a founding member of the student satire magazine and a member of Gamma Beta Phi, a fraternity dedicated to academic excellence and community service.

When he is not practicing law, Benjamin enjoys performing volunteer work through his church, North Avenue Presbyterian Church, and talking incessantly about movies.
