Mr. Jones spent much of his youth in Alabama and attained his B.A. from Auburn University where his father taught for many years. After college, he moved to Colorado where he obtained his J.D. from the University of Denver, College of Law.
In law school, Mr. Jones focused his efforts in the area of trial practice. He was extremely active in Moot Court routinely representing his law school in mock trial competitions all over the nation. In 1995, he won American Bar Associations Regional Trial Competition and throughout law school he was frequently awarded "Best Oralist" for his performances and received the American Jurisprudence Award for Trial Advocacy.
After law school, Mr. Jones committed eleven years with the Colorado State Public Defender's Office where he tried well over fifty cases to a jury. Mr. Jones' trial record with the Public Defender's Office was remarkable having achieved outright acquittals in nearly half of the cases he tried. While with the Public Defender's Office, Mr. Jones was a teacher and was responsible for training less experienced lawyers. Mr. Jones started his own practice in 2008 and continues to guest teach trial practice in Law Schools and Universities.
