As a child, I was always interested in the law and thought it would be challenging and rewarding to be a lawyer. In college, I worked in a law firm and one of the lawyers there encouraged me to go to law school. I always had a soft spot for the elderly, having volunteered in a local nursing home where I grew up. My great-grandfather also taught me that the elderly have a lot to offer. Then, between college and law school, I worked in a hospital and became interested in medical issues. I also attained my EMT certification at that time. So, it was natural for me to continue a legal path focusing on nursing home neglect and medical malpractice issues. I met Marian when we collaborated on some nursing home cases, and eventually, I became a Partner in the firm. I continue to find work as a lawyer full of interesting challenges, with opportunity to learn something new with each case. The most satisfying aspect of my work is knowing that I have been able to help someone.
