Mackenzie received a B.A. in Political Science and Theater from the University of Southern California in 2003, and a J.D. from the University of Nebraska in 2006.
She also studied international law at Cambridge University in England. While in law school, she was a member of Moot Court and was selected to represent her college at the National Moot Court Competition in New York City. As a student attorney at the University of Nebraska Civil Litigation Clinic, Mackenzie diligently represented clients in a variety of family and civil law matters including guardianship, custody, name change, administrative review of Medicaid benefits and tort defense. For her work at the clinic she was honored with a CALI Excellence for the Future. Mackenzie has also previously served as a law clerk for the Nebraska Public Service Commission.
Mackenzie is admitted to practice in Washington State, and is a current member of the King and Snohomish County Bar Associations and the Order of the Barristers. She volunteers with the KCBA Family Law Mentor Program and focuses her practice on Dependency and Family Law.
