Smith, David M.

David G. Hysinger  focuses his current practice focuses on personal injury and real estate, landlord-tenant disputes, habitability, mold claims, wrongful eviction, boundary disputes, breach of contract, and all other matters encountered by small businesses.

In his 19 years of practicing law, Mr. Hysinger has tried well over fifty jury trials to verdict in his areas of specialty, including about 35 as the assistant and about 15 in the lead attorney position. He has also represented individuals and small businesses in binding arbitrations and administrative trials before the San Francisco Rent Stabilization and Arbitration Board. He has argued more than ten cases before the appellate courts of California, preserving his clients' favorable results below in all but one of those cases.

Before entering the practice of law, Mr. Hysinger served as an extern in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of California. During that time, Mr. Hysinger drafted two published bankruptcy court opinions involving real estate secured transactions, and post-petition appreciation of bankruptcy estate assets. Both decisions led to appellate court opinions from the Ninth Circuit, in which both decisions were affirmed, establishing precedent, which remains current.

Mr. Hysinger supports educational and academic institutions with regular guest lecturers at the request of professors at San Francisco State University s College of Business on real estate, land use history, and governmental policies, and at Golden Gate University s International Business School on issues of international law, commerce and politics.

Dave and his wife Anna have been married since 1997. They live in San Francisco with their two sons, Jared (11) and Caleb (9), whose educational and academic interests hold his attention at Zion Lutheran School. Dave is in his second term as President of the Parent-Teacher League at Zion. In his remaining spare time, Dave is an avid, perhaps obsessive, mountain biker who manages to escape almost every weekend into the old growth redwood forests in his favorite open space preserves on the San Mateo Peninsula.
