Sloan, Deborah Savarese

Jerry Hurtubise was raised in Northern Indiana where he had learned the values of honesty and integrity, pillars supporting his life and guiding his practice of law. He received a four year college scholarship at Loyola University in Chicago and continued his education at the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. Prior to attending law school at the University of San Francisco, Mr. Hurtubise would work in Chicago as a community organizer and as an editor for a monthly publication.

After graduating and passing the California bar examination in 1980, he honed his trial skills as a Deputy City Attorney where, on every occasion, he successfully defended the City and County of San Francisco at the trial level, as well as before the California Court of Appeals. Over the past thirty years, Mr. Hurtubise has successfully represented hundreds of personal injury victims throughout California. His successes include multiple seven figure jury verdicts.

In addition to being a member of a host of legal societies, he is most proud of being an Ambassador Emeritus for the Catherine's Center, a transition house for women who leave prison, run by the St. Vincent DePaul Society and the Sisters of Mercy. He has helped to insure that The Catherine Center has had a nearly zero percent recidivism rate.

Mr. Hurtubise has lectured at the University of San Francisco, School of Law, as well as the Hastings College of Law, on passing the California Bar Examination. He is also the author of The Spiritual Apprenticeship of a Curious Catholic (ACTA Publications, 2005), has appeared in a major motion picture, and organizes a weekly food drive for those in need in the San Joaquin Valley.

Jerry has been married to Catherine Huston for twenty-three years, and they have one son, Peter, who graduated from Bellarmine College Preparatory in San Jose in 2008, and now attends the University of California, Berkeley.
