Teresa concentrates her practice in municipal liability, employment law and civil rights matters. In this capacity, Teresa represents police departments, municipalities, school districts and various non-profit and corporate entities, in claims made and suits brought against them. She has handled numerous cases involving constitutional claims brought pursuant to 1981 and 1983 and the First, Fourth and Fourteenth Amendments and she regularly litigates discrimination claims brought pursuant to Title VII, the ADEA, the ADA, the FMLA and the PHRA in both state and federal courts. As well, Teresa has acted as lead trial counsel in several federal and state cases.
Teresa also regularly advises and litigates administrative claims filed in both state and federal agencies and handles all aspects of employment claims pre and post litigation. Teresa has also represented various professionals in litigation involving real estate claims as well as providing representation to municipal entities in a number of general liability claims involving the Tort Claims Act.
When not litigating matters, Teresa consults with various types of entities including school districts on auditing, updating and revising personnel policy and procedure manuals. She has actively assisted school districts in the interactive process of determining reasonable accommodations for school district employees.
In 1995 Teresa graduated from Penn State University where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Administration of Justice. Following graduation, she attended Duquesne University Paralegal Institute and began working as a paralegal in 1996. In 2000, Teresa joined Marshall, Dennehey, Warner, Coleman & Goggin as a paralegal. While working full time, she attended Duquesne University School of Law and obtained her Juris Doctorate in 2002. Upon graduation, Teresa continued with the firm as an associate in its Professional Liability practice group.
