Skakel, Deborah A.

Stew is a third generation Sioux Cityan.  He graduated in 1965 from the University of Iowa Law School after receiving his undergraduate degree from the same institution in 1963. Also a graduate of the Wentworth Military Academy, Stew served on active duty with the United States Army from 1965-1967. He joined the firm in 1967. He served as a part-time Assistant City Attorney from 1967-1971.

Stew was admitted to practice law in Iowa in 1965, in Nebraska in 1983 and in South Dakota in 2004. His general practice includes, but is not limited to, corporation, business law, real estate and estate planning. Stew is a current member of the American Bar Association (Section of Business Law) and the Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota State Bar Associations. He is also a member of the Woodbury County Bar Association and served as president in 1996. Stew is a past member of the Board of Governor's of the Iowa State Bar Association and is currently active with Iowa State Bar Committees for business practice.

Stew has served on any number of city and county boards and commissions over the last 40 years and currently serves as President of the Dakota Dunes Homeowners Association. 

The Iowa Supreme Court recently appointed Stew to the Iowa Supreme Court Attorney Disciplinary Board.  Prior to this appointment, Stew served on the Iowa Supreme Court Grievance Commission from 2004-2010.

Stew has a general practice which over the last 15 years has included, but not been limited to, business law, estate planning, and real estate transactions.  During this period of time, Stew has worked with investment bankers, business brokers, accountants and other professionals to assist his clients in buying and selling businesses.
