Tough, aggressive, skilled lawyer in trial, in hearings, and in negotiations best describes Eric Sims Jr.. In his 18 year career, Mr. Sims litigated seven first degree murder cases, represented many clients facing life in prison, went to trial on felony cases somewhere near a hundred times, and tried plenty more misdemeanor cases. Mr. Sims defended juveniles and college aged clients in court and in school disciplinary hearings.
From saving a client’s dog from being put down by law enforcement to getting not guilty on first degree murder, Mr. Sims excels at defending people and preventing injustice. When the whole world seems intent on coming down on a client, that is the moment Mr. Sims relishes. Mr. Sims relishes the opportunity to defend that client against any unfairness, prejudice, or vitriol while simultaneously defending the client in court against any civil or criminal claims.
Mr. Sims graduated from Southwestern University of Law in Los Angeles in 1994, volunteered, interned, and worked for the Colorado Public Defender’s Office from 1993 to 2013. In addition to his 18 years of experience as a licensed attorney in Colorado, Mr. Sims served on the Board of the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar for seven years, taught at the University of Colorado during intersession multiple times, and gave numerous trainings to private attorneys as well as Public Defenders on topics ranging from self-defense to the current state of the law.
Mr. Sims joined Matthew and Elizabeth Connell in January of 2013; together these three experienced, excellent attorneys formed Connell&Sims, LLC.
