Anna Holloway is a counsel in the firm's Litigation/Controversy Department, and a member of the International Arbitration Practice Group. She joined the firm in 2007, and practiced out of the firm's London offices until relocating to the Washington DC office in 2010.
Practice
Ms. Holloway's practice focuses on international commercial arbitration, and covers a wide range of industries, including in particular the energy, oil and gas, banking and finance, and telecommunications sectors. Her practice also includes representing clients in public international law arbitrations. Ms. Holloway has represented companies before a variety of international arbitration tribunals constituted under the auspices of various leading arbitral institutions, including ICC, LCIA, PCA, VIAC, sited in both common and civil law jurisdictions, and has also represented clients before the English High Court. Ms. Holloway has also advised companies both prior to, and after the culmination of, arbitrations and litigation proceedings, particularly regarding the merits of commencing proceedings or taking appeals.
Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Holloway practiced commercial litigation as a barrister in New Zealand, advising parties to domestic and international litigation proceedings and appearing before the New Zealand courts as junior counsel. In this capacity, she also advised securities exchanges and commercial regulatory bodies on the scope and interpretation of their listing rules and takeovers code.
Recent Highlights
Recently, Ms. Holloway was part of the team that represented the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement/Army (SPLM/A) in an ad hoc international arbitration, under the auspices of the Permanent Court of Arbitration at the Hague, arising from a dispute with the Government of Sudan over the definition and delimitation of the Abyei Area. Ms. Holloway also represented a major European bank in an LCIA arbitration sited in London, and is currently part of the team representing a leading European telecommunications company in several arbitrations sited in Vienna with an amount in dispute of several billion Euros.
Professional Activities
Ms. Holloway is a member of the Young International Arbitrators Group of the London Court of International Arbitration, the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC Young Arbitrator’s Forum), Arbitral Women and the Law Society of England and Wales.
In her pro bono practice, Ms. Holloway has provided counsel and advocacy to refugees regarding immigration and general legal issues.
