Born Chicago, Illinois, March 10, 1967; admitted to bar, 1992, Illinois; 1993, Colorado and U.S. District Court, District of Colorado. Education: University of Vermont (B.A., 1989); Loyola University of Chicago School of Law (J.D., 1992). Melinda served as a student editor for THE BUSINESS LAWYER from 1990-1991. Melinda also authored a law review article entitled: A Quagmire of Uncertainty for Intangibles: Determining Arm's Length Consideration Under the Proposed Regulations for Section 482 of the Internal Revenue Code and was a Staff Writer for the Loyola University of Chicago School of Law school newspaper Blackacre.

Melinda Sherman received her law degree from Loyola University of Chicago School of Law in 1992, was admitted to the Illinois bar in 1992 and the Colorado bar in 1993. Melinda has practiced law in Steamboat Springs for almost 20 years, focusing in the areas of real property, business, banking, special district, zoning, municipal, home owner associations, estate planning, and water law. Her practice involves representing local clients as well as clients nationwide. She worked as Assistant City Attorney for the City of Steamboat Springs from 1993 to 1998. Melinda actively supports the Steamboat Springs community and dedicates her time to many community service organizations. She served as past Commissioner on the City of Steamboat Springs Parks and Recreation Commission. She currently serves as a board member on the Board of Directors of the Tread of Pioneers Museum, the Routt County Humane Society, Impact 100 Steering Committee, and The Foundation, Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club. She is a member of the Routt County, Northwest Colorado, the Colorado, and the Illinois State Bar Associations. Melinda is married to general contractor and master carpenter, Jon Sherman, and has two children. In her time away from the office Melinda enjoys the challenge and competition of training for and running road races.
