Michael E. Shelton founded the Shelton Law Firm in 1974. He has over 35 years of experience litigating complex personal injury cases in Texas, Louisiana, throughout the United States, and internationally. Mr. Shelton focuses his practice in the following areas: personal injury, catastrophic injury, maritime injury, Jones Act, pipeline injury, construction injury, industrial injury, burn injuries, products liability, and trucking accidents.
Mr. Shelton obtained his Juris Doctorate from the South Texas College of Law and was admitted to practice in Texas in 1974. He is also admitted to practice in Louisiana and before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern, Western, and Southern Districts of Texas, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Louisiana, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth and Eleventh Circuits, and the U.S. Supreme Court. Mr. Shelton is a member of the Houston Bar Association and the Louisiana Association for Justice, and is a Life Fellow with the Texas Bar Foundation.
Mr. Shelton has received an AV peer review rating from Martindale Hubbell, the national directory of attorneys. This is the highest possible rating available, indicating preeminent legal ability and the utmost ethical standards.
Born in Texas, Mr. Shelton worked on cattle farms and oil rigs prior to becoming a lawyer. He enjoys his work immensely and takes pride in fighting for justice for working people. In his free time, he enjoys hunting and traveling.
