Daniel M. Hodes is a partner with HodesMilman. While at Pepperdine, he was president of the Student Bar Association. Dan is admitted to practice personal injury law before all of the state and federal courts within California.
One of the most successful plaintiff medical malpractice attorneys in California, Dan was named Top Gun, Medical Malpractice Trial Lawyer of the Year for 2002 and again in 2006 by the Orange County Trial Lawyer's Association. Dan has also earned the distinction as one of the Southern California Super Lawyers, signifying a place among the top 5% of the region's attorneys. In the past, Dan has ranked in the Top 50 of Southern California Super Lawyers.
In addition, Dan's courtroom expertise earned him a spot in the Top 50 Attorneys in Orange County in 2005 and 2007, and he was a finalist for California Trial Lawyer of the Year in 2004 2006, and was voted Top 50 Lawyers in Orange Co by his peers for 2005, 2007. Dan was the Orange County Medical Malpractice Trial Lawyer of the Year in 2002 and 2006, and holds the distinction of having earned the two largest medical malpractice verdicts in Orange County history. Overall, Dan has earned dozens of jury verdicts and negotiated settlements in excess of $1 million, with some in the $10 million range.
Dan's expertise in the area of complex medical malpractice actions and his extensive, successful trial experience make him one of the most sought-after lawyers in California among victims and the families of victims of medical, hospital, and HMO negligence. Dan has successfully resolved, by way of settlement, arbitration, or trial, hundreds of malpractice actions in the six- and seven-figure range, including a landmark 1997 verdict in which an HMO was ordered to pay $10.96 million for the wrongful death of a young wife and mother. This was the largest medical malpractice wrongful death verdict in Orange County history, in a state that has established significant limits on the amount of money damages that can be obtained in medical malpractice actions.
Dan, a frequent author and lecturer on issues relating to medical malpractice, is a past president of the Orange County Trial Lawyers Association (1998-1999). In 1999, the Consumer Attorneys of California honored Dan as the Consumer Attorneys Associations' President of the Year.
