Amy L. Shapiro has been practicing family law for over 30 years. A graduate of the University of Michigan, Amy received her law degree from Boston University. She previously practiced in Georgia in civil legal services before returning to Wisconsin in 1984.
Amy's practice focuses on divorce, paternity, child custody and child custody jurisdiction, support, property division, domestic violence issues and post judgment matters. She is both certified as a family law mediator and extensively trained in the collaborative family law practice. She believes her creativity and tenacity as well as her compassion provide her with a unique perspective in her representation of her clients.
Amy is a member of the Collaborative Family Law Council of Wisconsin, the Milwaukee County Family Law Bench-Bar Committee as well as sitting on community boards and has authored several published articles on family law. As a board member of the Leander J. Foley Jr. Matrimonial American Inn of Court, Amy strives to foster mentoring to less experienced attorneys and continuing education for all attorneys.
Amy was selected as one of the Wisconsin Super Lawyers in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008. After being voted a finalist for Best Divorce Attorney in Milwaukee in 2010 in the Shepherd Express newspaper, she was voted the Best Divorce Attorney in Milwaukee in 2011.
